2019 Goals and Resolutions
I can’t believe it’s 2019 already! Like most people, I have been thinking a lot about 2018 and evaluating how I can make the new year even better and achieve some of my long and short term goals. Before we dive into 2019, let’s take a look back at my 2018 goals and see how I measured up.Â
My first goal, was to finish our master bathroom. And we did it! Sort of. For the most part the bathroom is complete and we are using it exclusively. However, we have not installed the shower glass yet. I am sure we will eventually, but we had some unexpected events come up at the end of the year which not only halted our motivation but changed some things financially. I hope to execute the shower glass sometime in 2019, so let’s just call this a continuing goal 😉Â
Second on my 2018 list was to get organized and stay organized! I am happy to report that the organization projects I completed in 2018 are still intact and going strong! Early in the year I tackled organizing my necklaces and getting my act together under the kitchen sink. Over the summer I finally made our laundry room/closet bearable. All of which are still looking tidy, even my closet which I also shared some tips on. For me, there are still organization areas that could use substantial improvement, so I will call this goal completed while on going.Â
Goal number three for 2018 was our backyard patio makeover I completed for the One Room Challenge. This goal is 100% complete with no caveats 😉Â
Fourth was small projects I had been wanting to complete, specifically building a proper fireplace mantel and adding some faux logs to the built in firebox.Â
Fifth on the list for 2018 was a living/dining room redesign. While there are still items I would like to check off the list in these spaces, I did manage to get in a makeover that didn’t cost a thing! I am hopeful 2019 will bring the full makeover I have in mind for this space, but if it doesn’t, the mini makeover should hold me over for a little while 😉The six item on the chopping block for 2018 was a new front door. While there was no room in the budget for the door of my dreams, I did manage to give the front porch a little makeover with a fresh coat of paint and a new light.Â
Finally on the goals list for 2018 were a few projects at my mom’s house. I am happy to report there are several projects we have started at her house, but because they are not 100% complete, I have not shared them yet. Stay tuned. In the meantime, this is her kitchen we made over last fall.Â
2019
Now let’s talk about 2019! I have thought long and hard about this and narrowed it down to a few simple ideas, but there will likely be much more in our future.
First, if you don’t follow me on Instagram, you likely have missed the news. We got a puppy! After much debate and soul searching, we decided our family just wasn’t complete without a furry friend! So a few weeks ago we welcomed a 5 month Italian Greyhound mix into our family! His name is Marvin and you can follow his adventures on his Instagram account! Undoubtedly, there will be some doggy DIYs on the blog this year!
Second, I would like to continue with my organization goals. While I did tackle some areas in desperate need during 2018, I would like to continue my efforts focusing specifically on closets, the kitchen, and bathroom storage organization.Third, I want to add more wood and natural elements to my decor. I know this seems a little odd, but after I finally got our family room right, I realized I was missing out in other rooms. I want our house to feel like us but I also want it to feel curated and have depth rather than just being flat. I know that probably sounds like I am talking a bunch of design wu wu, but just trust me on this one 😉Â
Fourth, this one kind of goes along with the last, but I want to become better at layering in textures and mixing metals. For a LONG time I was terrified of mixing metals. But when we completed our master bedroom makeover I finally took the plunge and went for it! And guys, I love it! Now I yearn to extend that into other areas of the house.
Fifth, more Ikea hacks! You guys know I am a sucker for Ikea! For real. And they don’t pay me to be a fan, I just am. So it should come as no surprise that I am eager to transform more of their incredible and affordable products like I did for our bathroom towel rack!
Now I want to hear from you! What do you want to see more of? Leave me a comment or send me an email and let me know what you want me to share in 2019 🙂
