Cozy Blanket Basket with Chalkboard Sign
Every fall as the weather brings a chill to the air, my first instinct is to wrap myself up in a cozy blanket. With our Annual Chili Cook off party right around the corner I thought it would be fun to have a basket of blankets for people to use in case they get cold, since the party is done in the backyard. Last year we had a pretty cold night for the party and blankets were welcomed!
I stumbled upon this wire basket at TJ Maxx one day and thought it would be perfect for my blankets. I loved the organic feel of the handles and the industrial feel of the wire making it perfect for indoors or out. So I snagged it for $12.99. I then rounded up my collection of blankets.
I rolled each blanket and arranged them around the basket, but it was still missing something. It needed a sign. On a recent trip to the Dollar Tree, I randomly came across these 5×7 chalkboards. I was so excited to find them for only a $1 that I bought a bunch to use for our Chili Cook Off Party. It turns out I didn’t need all of them so I had an extra 🙂
They are basically a pegboard style material without the holes. I decided to fasten it to the basket with some twine we had. To do so, I needed to drill some holes.
Once my holes were drilled, I used my chalk marker to write on it.
Then I threaded the twine through the holes and tied it to the basket.
Tah Dah!!!!
Once I had all of the components this project only took about 10 minutes to make 🙂
