Easy Assembly Backyard Outdoor Storage Tool Shed Kit

We just finished up with our side yard project and will be switching gears to our shed now. When we first bought ours 70s house, we actually had a shed, but it was in really bad condition and awkwardly placed. There was never a proper foundation built for it and I think the previous owners kids must have played baseball in front of it because it had a bunch of holes in it.

A backyard with a brown shed with holes in it is surrounded by a wooden fence. The grass has patchy snow, and the bare trees indicate winter. Part of a house with a covered patio is visible on the left. The sky is clear and sunny.

While this sad shed served its purpose the first year we lived here, we moved it out when we had the patio done thinking we didn’t really need it. HA! Three years, a messy garage, and two mountain bikes later, that was a mistake. We definitely needed to get some of the yard tools out of the garage. After contemplating size and ascetics, we settled on a 7×7 pre-made shed that I ordered online. While they do not sell our exact shed anymore, this 8×10 Suncast shed is very similar in design and look.

Since we had the pad built when we did the side yard hard-scaping, we were ready to assemble when it arrived. So we lathered on some sunscreen and got to work. We spread out all the parts and checked them off with the instructions to make sure we received everything.

A sunny backyard with a wooden fence surrounds a grassy area. A tree with shade is on the right, and a small patio with paving stones is at the center. A house is partially visible in the background.

I’m not going to lie, this was definitely a two person job. There were some very awkward items to assemble which would have been very challenging working alone. It took us about 6 hours to do the entire thing. But overall it was an easy build for a weekend project.

Metal roof panels are laid out on grass alongside tools and hardware for assembly. A wooden fence surrounds the yard in the background, and parts of a frame are visible.

Our sweet pup thought she helped us build this pre-fab shed.

I think its cute! And it definitely helped free up some real estate in the garage.

This is what it looks like now that the rest of the yard is complete. And if you want to see what we store in here and how I organized it, check out my easy DIY shed organization 🙂

***Update, we have now had this shed for almost 10 years and it has held up really well! It’s perfect for storing all our yard tools, wheel barrel, lawn mower, and planting supplies.
