The Best Way to Hang Curtains

One of my staples in home design has always been curtains. They can add color, pattern, and texture to transform a space. But they can also majorly bring a room down. Literally. As in bring down the ceiling height. I swear, it’s true. Have no fear though, today I am going to show you the best way to hang curtains to maximize your room and make the ceilings feel taller! A close-up of elegant gray curtains hanging perfectly from a sleek silver rod. If you follow me on Facebook, you probably know we are knee deep in a living/dining room makeover. As part of that makeover, these rooms have received a fresh coat of paint, new curtains, and a few other things. Our previous curtains were the standard 84″ inch panels. Now let’s take a second to talk about that word standard. In my book standard is just another word for average. Don’t be afraid to be better than average! Let me explain. Before you hang your curtains think about two words. High and wide. Check out my video below where I walk you through it and hang my new curtains!

The Best Way to Hang Curtains

Remember the words, high and wide! Let your natural light shine in and your ceiling height soar. Are you a believer yet? In case you are not, here is a little before and after for you to better visualize the difference.A dining room featuring the best dark wooden table, beige upholstered chairs, and a stunning silver chandelier. Gray curtains hang elegantly on the wall next to a decorative mirror. A textured bowl rests atop a white runner on the table. A modern dining room features a black table, wooden bench, and sleek black chairs. A wooden bowl with fruit elegantly sits on the table. The silver chandelier hangs as the best focal point above a rectangular rug, while curtains frame the mirror and plant on white and gray walls.

Even though I know this trick works, I am still always amazed at how big of an impact curtains can really have! By simply moving the curtain rods up and hanging longer length panels, this room feels at least a foot taller!  Aside from all the other projects we have going on simultaneously right now, this was an easy afternoon project I could easily check off my list. A modern living room with the best gray curtains hanging beside a large window, complemented by a gray sofa. A wooden bowl filled with colorful artificial fruits sits on the glass coffee table, and a small plant rests on a side table next to a lamp. A modern living room showcases a sleek black leather chair and ottoman adorned with a striped pillow, complemented by elegantly hung gray curtains. A floor lamp and a small table with a vibrant plant add charm, while the best feature is the natural light streaming through the large window. Modern living room corner with a black leather chair, a geometric striped pillow, and the best tall floor lamp illuminating the space. Gray curtains hang gracefully beside a small wall mirror and a green plant. Natural light floods in through the window, brightening every detail. A modern dining room features a black table with a striped runner, flanked by wooden benches and a black metal chair. A bowl of fruit sits in the center. The best gray curtains frame a large window, while a chandelier hangs from the ceiling. A nearby potted plant adds a touch of nature.

As you can see we are in the home stretch on this makeover and I hope to wrap up my design tweaks this week so I can share the finished space with you!
