Master Bathroom Renovation Coming Soon!

I wish you could see me right now………I am a giddy school girl with a super cheesy smile on my face 🙂 I have been waiting for 5 years for this next project and the time has finally come. The MASTER BATH RENO!!!! Seriously, this is my most anticipated project yet! I can’t wait. Did I mention how excited I am?

It has carpet, yes I said carpet and it is just gross! For the record, carpet in a bathroom is a TERRIBLE idea. Please don’t try this at home. That is my #1 dislike in the bathroom.Master Bath Reno Coming Soon! ww.GarrisonStreetDesignStudio.com That 70s House

The second annoyance is there is no door. Technically, there is a door between the vanity area and the toilet and shower, but no door between the bedroom and the vanity area. This means if Barry or I have to wake up earlier than the other, light floods the bedroom and inevitably wakes up the other person. I hate this.Master Bath Reno Coming Soon! ww.GarrisonStreetDesignStudio.com That 70s House

Third, is door/drawer city. Let me explain. The door to my closet is opposite the vanity and swings open toward the vanity. The drawers on the vanity are literally right in front of the door. So they can not all be open at the same time. Then there is the door to the toilet/shower area that swings open toward the door to the closet so they all basically intersect. It’s not that big of a deal with only one person in the bathroom, but when we are both getting ready at the same time, we are constantly bumping into each other or the doors and drawers.Master Bath Reno Coming Soon! ww.GarrisonStreetDesignStudio.com That 70s House Master Bath Reno Coming Soon ww.GarrisonStreetDesignStudio.com That 70s House

Finally, the shower. I have never been a fan of the old frosted sliding shower doors. They just always look dirty to me. Ours actually is dirty, but that is besides the point. I hung a shower curtain so I didn’t have to look at it.Master Bath Reno Coming Soon ww.GarrisonStreetDesignStudio.com That 70s House

Those are my main points of contention with our master bath, while there are others, those are the big ones. When we first bought That 70s House, we made a few simple updates to hold us over until we could do a full scale renovation. But now we are ready to tackle our biggest project yet! In five years, I have had a lot of time to consider what I, I mean we, really want 🙂 This is going to be a full gut, hopefully not all the way down to the studs like the guest bathroom, but we will see. The renovation will include the following.

  1. New tile floor
  2. New vanity and countertop
  3. New lighting – the lighting is pretty poor right now
  4. New Faucets
  5. New tile shower with frameless glass
  6. Remove wall between vanity and toilet
  7. Add wall between vanity and bedroom
  8. Add sliding barn door between bedroom and bathroom
  9. Add sliding barn door to closet
  10. Reconfigure my closet

For the record, I am still smiling! I SERIOUSLY can’t wait!!! Can you?
