Kitchen Makeover – The Reveal
It’s week 7 of the One Room Challenge and we are finally done with my mom’s kitchen!!! Did you catch week 1, week 2, week 3, week 4, week 5, and week 6? Make sure to catch up so you can see how far we have come! I am not going to do a lot of talking here because I know you came for the pictures 🙂 I will include links at the bottom for all the items we used if available or similar versions. So here we go. To refresh your memory, this is what we started out with.
First, we painted all the cabinets and the walls.
We also changed out all the hardware to a modern nickel pull.
Then we added a kitchen island with bar stools.
We also addressed the skylight tragedy and poor lighting
The dutch door got a makeover with fresh paint and new hardware.
We hung open shelving on the blank wall behind the dutch door and added some new accessories.
And we had some fun with DIY art. If you subscribe to my newsletter, you will receive your very own free coffee printable!
Then came some simple accessories.
And we did it all for just $1500! Can you believe that!?
Even my mom’s dogs got an upgrade to their dining with these raised dog bowls I found at HomeGoods.

I am totally impressed by your reveal. The amazing piece, to me, is the hanging light. Whenever I see a skylight, I cringe ! I feel that it is just a big hole in the ceiling. Besides that, skylights age so poorly. Building a faux beam was a perfect way to disguise “ the hole”. They light you chose takes the focus off “the hole”. Congratulations!
Thank you so much Lynn! This particular skylight definitely has a very large tunnel making it awkward to say the least. But I am very thankful for the natural light 🙂
Great job! I really like it. Talented girl!
Thank you so much Nila! I appreciate it 🙂
Such a beautiful transformation! It all looks so good! I hope you do some celebrating and relaxing this weekend after all the hard work! 🙂
Thank you so much Shelley! I am definitely looking forward to taking a break! 😉
Looks amazing Lisa and love all the use of color in your bowls and basket..quite talented 🙂
Thank you Denise! I can’t wait to check out your kitchen as well!
I love your island! I’m a bit biased because my kitchen has similar color palettes as yours! Just beautiful Lisa! Congrats and Cheers to us for another room done!
Thank you so much Vel! This was my first ORC and I was experimenting on my mom’s kitchen, so I am just glad things went relatively smoothly! Your master turned out incredible as well!
What a great update! I bet your mom loves it. I think that “In Case of Emergency” coffee bean art is so cute.
Thank you Stacy! Yes, my mom does like it 🙂 So much so she is trying to get me to start the next project now! Haha!
What a stunning makeover! I love all the coffee touches you sprinkled throughout the room – spoke to this coffee lover’s heart! And the hints of copper are perfection!
Thank you so much Jen! You are so sweet! 😉
Great job! The light fixture adds tons of character in there, and I love that you used the fruits and veggies as your decor. So real life, piratical and BEAUTIFUL!
Thank you so much Michaela! I am so glad we went with this light fixture because it really did make such a big difference! And all the veggies were put to good use after all the pictures were taken 🙂
